Koh Samui ATV Tour Prices

Koh Samui’s ATV prices are not complicated, but they are quoted on two different bases, and comparing the headline numbers without noticing which is how people end up paying twice what they expected.

By duration, per person

1 hour — from $55. Samui Quad Motor is the cheapest ride on the island and the most reviewed, with island-wide hotel pickup in the price. Their listing also says it is not suitable for beginners, so read the beginners page before booking it as a first ride.

2 hours — $67 to $85. Orange Wave at $67 is the cheapest true two-hour ride, Trail Blazers at $71, Lexi Adventures at $85 for the premium small-group version with photos and a practice area. That $18 spread buys real differences — compared properly on our 2-hour ATV tours page.

3 hours — from $106. Jungle Quad’s Secret Waterfall tour, and the cheapest way to get a guaranteed waterfall swim rather than a seasonal maybe.

4 hours — $137 to $143. Jungle Quad’s Ultimate at $137 with lunch, temple and garden entries included; X Quad’s premium solo tour at $143 on a Yamaha 450cc with lunch and drinks.

The price-basis trap

Some Koh Samui listings are priced per person and some per group. GetYourGuide labels which, but the label sits below the number and is easy to skim past.

Xplore ATV shows $71 “per group up to 1” — that is one rider, so it is effectively a per-person price. X Quad’s buggy shows $273 “per group up to 2” — that covers both of you, so per head it is $137, in line with the four-hour ATV tours rather than double them.

The rule of thumb: read the words after the number before you compare two listings. A “per group up to 2” listing that looks twice the price of a per-person one is usually the same price.

Rider plus passenger

Sharing one machine is where the real saving is. X Quad’s driver-plus-passenger tour is $225 for two on one quad, against $143 for one person on the solo version — so the second person costs $82 rather than $143, and gets the same lunch.

Two limits to know. Several operators cap the combined weight at 140 kg per quad. And four hours with a passenger aboard is genuinely hard work, which is why X Quad sell a power-steering upgrade for about 1,000 THB on that listing.

Private and buggy

Beginner buggy — $196 for two. Two riders, one quad, with lunch — $225. Private 4x4 jungle safari — $237 for two, with entrance fees to every stop included. Four-hour buggy with lunch — $273 for two, plus roughly 1,000 THB for the larger Z10 or 3,000 THB for the four-seat Z950.

Note how close the private safari sits to the premium shared options. Once you count the entrance fees it includes, the premium for having your own guide and driver is smaller than most people assume. See private tours and ATV vs buggy.

What is and is not in the price

Hotel transfer is included on almost every tour and is worth real money on this island — the ATV bases are inland, so a taxi each way is not trivial. Two exceptions: Lexi cover the main beach areas free but may charge a supplement for Nathon, Taling Ngam, Lipa Noi or a mountain villa, and Xplore list the transfer as an optional add-on.

Lunch appears only on the four-hour tours and on Trail Blazers’ three-hour option. Everything shorter includes water and, at some operators, a soft drink at a cafe stop.

Photos are free on the Lexi tour and on both Jungle Quad routes, where the guides shoot throughout and send everything by WhatsApp. Elsewhere they are not offered.

Entrance fees only arise on the private safari and the four-hour Jungle Quad tour, and both include them.

Eye protection is excluded by several operators and provided by others — Xplore include it, Samui Quad Motor and Lexi list it under exclusions.

Booking on GetYourGuide versus at the gate

Prices here are what GetYourGuide charges in your own currency, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure and the transfer already in the number. Walking into a base camp and paying in baht is a different transaction at a different price, usually without the hotel transfer and without the cancellation terms. Whether that works out cheaper depends on how far you are staying from Maenam, Lamai or Nathon and how you would get there.
